Pike's Peak Highway, Colorado Springs, Colorado Pike's Peak Highway is a 19 mile long mix of asphalt and dirt ribbon winding up to the peak of the mountain over 14,000 feet above sea level. The road features sweepers and hairpins, some bordered by thousand foot drop-offs with no guardrails. The views from the summit will literally take your breath away (they actually keep oxygen tanks at the peak to help people with altitude sickness). The road is open to the public and you can drive to the top yourself for about $20. Every summer, the mountain is home to the Pike's Peak International Hill Climb.
